Why Hardwood?
“Hardwood” can refer to both Solid hardwood and Engineered hardwood, not to be confused with laminate flooring. Both offer a warm, rich feel for your home and are available in hundreds of colors and finishes. Popular styles and finishes include: Wide planks, Multiple width planks, Hand-scraped, Oiled Finishes, and Reclaimed-looks. Traditional looks are also very popular in our area and used in many of the historic homes.
Installing hardwood can be a good investment that would increase your home’s value. With proper care, hardwood floors can last a lifetime.
Creative Flooring & Design offers hundreds of pre-finished hardwood choices. We also offer unfinished wood for site-finished applications.
When to choose Engineered…
Engineered Hardwood has a wear layer of real hardwood and once installed looks and feels no different than solid hardwood. You may choose Engineered Hardwood over Solid Hardwood for several reasons. If your home is on a concrete slab, it is more difficult to install solid hardwood and floating an engineered floor would be a better option. Here in Eastern North Carolina, we experience drastic fluctuations in humidity levels. The construction of engineered hardwood creates a more structurally sound product, great for homes that may be closer to the coast and those who want wider plank styles. Also, engineered products are thinner than their 3/4″ solid counterparts and may be more suitable for certain installation situations. Last but not least, depending on the manufacturer, some engineered versions may be less expensive than solid hardwood.
